Rift sets record for most MMO marriages in a day

There are some unique (weird) people in the world, and occasionally they set world records no one cares about; such as the largest airplane ever eaten, and the world’s fastest strip (settle down, it’s a scrawny Japanese man).

Gaming records can be pretty cool, like the fastest Mario speedrun or most hours spent playing Daikatana without clawing out your eyes. Some of them on the other hand, are not very cool, such as a new record set by Trion – most MMO marriages in 24 hours, in their game Rift.

This record was set on Tuesday, with a whopping 21,879 marriages between all manner of creature and/or person.  This was of course an organized event, and Trion had this to say, “All participating players received the unique in-game title “The Avowed,” and hopefully snapped some wedding images to share with their children.”

Did any MyGamers elope into the forest? Tell us about it in the comments, and why the hell wasn’t I invited.
