Retro City Rampage confirmed for more platforms

22 February 2012

Will VBlank Entertainment’s pixel-powered GTA-’em-up Retro City Rampage be vroom-vroom-screeching to YOUR preferred platform? Check out the checklist!

[x] Wii

[x] Xbox

[x] PS3 *New!*

[x] PS Vita *New!*

[x] PC *New!*

So, basically, if you’re a 3DS owner, sorry. For everybody else, it’s on like Donkey Kong.

Retro City Rampage is an indie title developed by Brian Provinciano, whose name I actually remember because he released a game development toolset called SCI Studio that used the same engine as Sierra’s old adventure games, including Space Quest II and King’s Quest IV. FACT!

I made a game set in a creepy monastery, loosely based on Umberto Eco’s Name of the Rose. Well, it was half a game. Okay, it was like five rooms, and a monk that walked around randomly, but it was awesome!

Anyway, RCR was originally scheduled to launch only on WiiWare and the Xbox LIVE Arcade, but realising the potential to make loads more cash, VBlank has just added PC and a PlayStation Network launch for PS3 and PS Vita to the list.

I think I’ll go drive over the kids skateboarding in the car park downstairs to celebrate. Honestly, I’ve been looking for an excuse for weeks already…

The game’s out in May.
