Proving that everybody loves creepy blonde albino monster hunters (you just have to get to know them), CD Projekt Red has confirmed that The Witcher 2 sold over 1 million copies last year.
The sales were divvied up between 40,000 on CD Projekt’s own GOG.com; 270,000 on other unnamed digital distribution platforms; and the remainder on Steam and retail boxes – totalling 1,110,055 copies sold.
Remarkably enough, the first game pushed 40,000 copies in the same time, several years after its release.
“I have to admit, though, that the sales results for The Witcher, five years on from the game’s premier, are remarkable,” CDPR managing director Adam Badowski told Eurogamer. “If anything, they prove that the content we put into our games ages well.
“The Witcher will continue to generate buzz in the coming years.”
In the meantime, though, The Witcher 2 is getting ready, set, reload to launch on Xbox in April, while a third game is reportedly already in development.

Just a pity for the 6m pirated copies. If not for this they would have had the budget to make 5 more Witcher games!!!
