Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs announced

23 February 2012

Many would credit Frictional Games’ survival horror game, Amnesia: The Dark Descent, with being the scariest game released in the last few years.

The developer has now announced that a follow up to the 2010 PC exclusive is in development.

Apparently, Amnesia: Machine for Pigs takes place in the same universe as The Dark Descent, but introduces a host of new characters and features.

The game will be set in 1990, and follows a wealthy industrialist Oswald Mandus who experiences tragedy during a trip to Mexico. Mandus returns from Mexico with a fever, and is haunted by visions of a mysterious machine.

The studio behind Dear Esther and thechineseroom will be developing A Machine for Pigs, and the game is planned for release towards the end of the year.

James absolutely loved Amnesia: The Dark Descent, calling it a “superb psychological survival-horror that any fan of the genre should not miss”. Read the review here: Amnesia: The Dark Descent review
