EA has pulled Battlefield 3: Aftershock from the iOS App Store because, basically, it’s broken and awful and everybody hated it.
Aftershock was released earlier this month as marketing for “Go Go Team America” film Act of Valor, and featured only a single map and five weapons.
The game was instantly slammed by users for its rubbish controls and multiplayer connectivity issues, and managed a rating aggregate of only 2.5 out of 5. Although – or maybe because – it was free, the game was apparently also covered in ads for the film.
“EA Mobile is committed to delivering mobile entertainment experiences that are on par with the content and quality users have come to expect from their favorite EA gaming brands,” said EA in a statement released to IGN. “To this end, we have decided to remove Battlefield 3: Aftershock from the App Store and are currently re-evaluating the app in response to the consumer feedback we’ve received. We thank all the fans who have downloaded the game to date.”
Another Battlefield iOS game is in development, and scheduled to launch sometime later this year. This doesn’t bode well…
