Frogger was one of my first ever PC games, way back forever ago in 1986. I had this 3.1/4-inch floppy disk with a bunch of crappy ports of games like Donkey Kong and Space Invaders and, of course, Frogger.
The game didn’t even have proper graphics, and the cars on the road and the river debris were just varying configurations of the equals sign, like = and == and ===. But it was totally awesome, okay.
Anyway, a new Frogger game – Frogger: Hyper Arcade Edition – has been outed by an Australian certification rating, and it’s apparently in development for PS3, Xbox, and Wii over at Blacklight dev Zombie Studios, to be published by Konami.
Sadly, unlike most brand reboots, it’s not an FPS, which seems a bit of a missed opportunity because who wouldn’t want to be a beefy man-frog with a rocket launcher on the Los Angeles freeway interchange at rush hour?
I mean, that would be brilliant.
