Steam app out of beta

2 March 2012

Remember the Steam app that was in beta not so long ago? I remember, because I signed up for it and got in, and then was hassled for my spare invite which I never gave out, out of pure spite.

Turns out the joke’s on me, because the app is now out of beta and freely available to everyone.

The app allows you to connect with all your Steam friends while you’re out and about, and let’s you interrupt their games by chatting to them using Steam’s chat functionality.

Hey, you’re not playing games, so why should you care?

Most importantly though, the app gives you access to the the Steam store – so you’ll never have to miss a Steam special ever again, even if you’re stuck at some boring family function with your grandma.

The app is available for free on the Apple and Android app stores.
