Street Fighter X Tekken review roundup

9 March 2012

Street Fighter X Tekken is a crossover fighting game that was announced by Capcom at Comic-Con International back in 2011.

It has just been released on PS3 and Xbox 360 and features characters from the Street Fighter franchise going up against characters from the Tekken series.

The game is based on the 2D gameplay of Street Fighter as opposed to the 3D nature of the Tekken series, and it features projectile moves such as the infamous Hadouken.

A PC version is scheduled for release in May, and a PS Vita version is also planned for later this year.

So far reviews have been highly positive, and the game is sitting on a Metacritic score of 86/100. The user score is not quite as promising, and is currently sitting on a 6.4/10.

Here are what some publications have had to say about it so far:

It has little to offer fighting game fans bridled with brand fatigue and even less to Tekken players still wary of polarizing mechanics and the tricky jump to 2D. As an experiment and a sequel… Street Fighter X Tekken is still a resounding and admirable success, and further proof than Ono-san is hiding true genius behind those scruffy cords and pudgy cheeks.
