Thinking of getting into independent game development? You should go with the PC over console.

That’s just the advice of Epic Games’ Cliff Bleszinski, anyway, but he’s the guy who invented chainsaws on guns and he probably knows what he’s talking about.

“Xbox Live and PSN, skip both of them because you’re at Sony or Microsoft’s will as to what’s on the dashboard,” he said during a GDC panel talk about indie game development. “iOS, maybe, but you have to have Apple’s approval, there’s too much piracy on Android, no one has a Windows phone. Kickstarter’s wonderful, go Tim Schafer.”

“I would go with the PC.”

Although Epic is basically sleeping with the Xbox 360 these days, the company has a history of developing iconic PC games including the Unreal and Unreal Tournament series, both of which set visual and technical benchmarks in the early noughties. Also, Unreal Tournament 2004 on PC was the best in the series, fact.
