2K Games‘ most recent release in the long-standing Civilization franchise is now on special on Steam, and is marked down 75% from $29.99 (R240) to $7.49 (R60).
This is also true of the “Game of the Year” edition of the game, which includes a large chunk of the DLC released so far. That’s going for $12.49 (R95).
The game was originally released in late 2010, and received mostly positive feedback. Notable changes introduced included hexagonal tiles instead of the square titles featured in previous Civilization games, as well as an overhauled combat system, including the removal of stackable military units.
Civilization V was a great addition to the franchise, and in my review I awarded it 87/100.
“Fans of the series will not be disappointed as long as they remain open minded. It is still as addictive as ever, and ranks highly amongst my list of “Games that keep me up way too late on school nights.” The “just one more turn” compulsion is as devious as ever, and the revamped combat and hexagonal tile set just make everything more fun.”
