Funding Dungeon Keeper 3 would be “fun”, says Notch

13 March 2012

Remember when Minecraft creator Markus ‘Notch’ Persson said last month that he we would help fund the development of a Psychonauts sequel?

Well it looks like that’s probably not happening any time soon, but that won’t stop Notch from dreaming.

When asked by Eurogamer which other dormant franchise he would be interested in pouring money into, he first said “I’m probably going to get in trouble if I say anything here,” but then he said “Actually Dungeon Keeper 3 would be fun, but that’s so stuck in licensing hell that that’s not going to happen, ever. But that would be fun.”

“It would be interesting to invest in some games that I think would really do well and that are actually good games as well – games that I want to see happen.”

After publicly stating that he would help fund a new Psychonauts game, Notch back-pedalled when it turned out that he has underestimated just how much cash Double Fine would need to fund the sequel.
