New Mass Effect 3 multiplayer stuff incoming?

13 March 2012

In the news that shocked the world today, it looks like BioWare is prepping to launch a Mass Effect 3 multiplayer content pack.

An image allegedly leaked from the “developer server” via Facebook, then Reddit, and then the rest of the internet, shows a series of unlockable character cards including a Geth Engineer and Infiltrator; a Batarian Soldier and Sentinel; a Krogan Battlemaster; and an Asari Justicar.

The DLC apparently “unlocked everything”, although that might be because it was on, you know, the private developer server and used for testing purposes.

Perhaps more likely, a poster on Reddit claims the DLC is attached to “Action figures. I read it in my Game Informer. They are going to be releasing Mass Effect action figures, which will give you a code, to unlock the character in multiplayer.”

In other, related, more or less shocking news (depending on your opinion of BioWare’s quality control), complaints about missing unlockable characters “becoming locked again” have been turning up on the company’s forums. The developer is looking into the issue, but in the meantime, recommends the following preventative measures:

  • Avoiding going into the Store while ‘Ready’ for a multiplayer match. It’s best to un-ready yourself before you go to the store.
  • Not accepting invites while in the store/purchasing.
