Counter-Strike: Global Offensive a “terrible game right now”

14 March 2012

Uh oh; someone who supposedly knows what he’s talking about just slagged off Valve’s Counter-Strike reboot, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO).

Tomi “lurppis” Kovanen has said in a thread on the official forums that CS:GO is “terrible” and “not by any means fun.”

And it’s not just him – apparently all the cool kids are hating on the game based on the closed beta. “That’s what every top player thinks as far as I can tell,” said Kovanen.

Kovenan formerly led Evil Geniuses’ CS team, and he’s said to have earned about $340,000 in (team) prize money playing CS since 2005.

In a follow up interview with PC Gamer, Kovenan cites map changes, poor visibility, player movement and recoil as some of the game’s most serious downfalls.

“I played CS:GO for three hours a night, four nights in a row for the CES Plantronics thing. And on day four I still couldn’t tell who was a CT or a T. So I just shot everyone at first to find out if they’re a teammate or an enemy.”

CS:GO is planned for release on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 in mid-2012.

It looks like its got a whiff of the cod4 about it though. I dont know, maybe its just me… I really hope they dont try and copy the elements of a cod4 multiplayer game, that got way to repetitive way too quickly.
