Rumour has it that Bethesda has shut down production of FPS sequel Prey 2, which was being developed by small studio Human Head.
This news comes via an inside source, who says an official announcement will be coming next week.
A lot of credibility is lent to the rumour by the fact that a Prey 2 presentation scheduled for GDC was cancelled a few weeks before.
This was confirmed at the time by lead programmer at Human Head, Brian Karis, who tweeted, “Yes, Zenimax forced us to pull all Prey 2 related talks from GDC. I’m pretty devastated by the news. This was to be my first conf talk.”
While Bethesda hasn’t yet commented on the rumour, the cancelled talk does look conspicuous. However if the “inside source” is to be believed, we’ll find out the truth next week anyway.
The news is definitely disappointing, as the game generated a fair bit of buzz at E3 and Gamescom 2011.
