Robert Bowling quits Infinity Ward

27 March 2012

Infinity Ward creative strategist and hype machine Robert “fourtwozero” Bowling has quit the company, announcing it over Twitter late last night because that’s what all the cool kids are doing these days.

“Today, I resign from my position as Creative Strategist of Call of Duty, as a lead of Infinity Ward, and as an employee of Activision,” he said, indirectly confirming that, whatever he’s going to do next, it won’t be under Activision’s command. Backstage drama potential? High.

Activision’s response has been predictably bland and non-committal. “We sincerely thank Robert for his many years of service,” said the official press release, carefully replacing the “EMPLOYEE NAME HERE” field with “Robert”.

“He’s been a trusted and valued member of the Infinity Ward team. We wish him all the best on his decision to pursue future opportunities.”

Bowling has not yet said what his plans are, but maybe he’ll… respawn somewhere else.

AAWWWW YEEAAAAHHHHHHH.
