Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced gets OS X release, cross-platform multiplayer

30 March 2012

Overhaul Games has added Mac OS X to the list of Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition launch platforms, bringing the total number of launch platforms up to three, which everybody knows is also a totally magic number so that seems appropriate.

“The Enhanced Edition will include a variety of Mac OS X specific features, including widescreen and iCloud support,” promises Overhaul over on the official site.

The game is apparently also getting cross-platform multiplayer support between PC, iPad, and Mac, according to Beamdog boss Trent Oster. There’s that magic number again.

Xbox and PS3 gamers hoping to make the party list will be disappointed to learn that the studio is  “pursuing a non-console strategy”. But maybe it’s really about maintaining the magic number three.

That’s the third time it’s come up in this article alone. Coincidence? I think not.

The game’s due out later this year, although no release date has been confirmed yet.
