Nvidia releases Geforce 182.06 drivers

19 February 2009

Nvidia has released its official Geforce 182.06 WHQL certified drivers. The new drivers provide support for OpenGL 3.0 on Geforce 8-series, 9-series and 200-series graphics cards.

The drivers are markedly similar to the Geforce 182.06 WHQL – candidate drivers. However, Nvidia has resolved the issue regarding system instability when switching between performance states on Geforce 9800GTX/GTX+/GT/GX2 and Geforce 8800GTS/GT/GS graphics cards. The addition of OpenGL 3.0 is also new.

According to Fudzilla the same performance benefits present in the previous 182.05 drivers can be found in Nvidia’s latest driver package:

“Up to 8% performance increase in Fallout 3 at high resolution and AA.
Up to 10% performance increase in F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin.
Up to 9% performance increase in Half-Life 2 at high resolution with AA.
Up to 11% performance increase in Left 4 Dead at high resolution with AA.
Up to 10% performance increase in Race Driver: GRID at high resolution and AA.”

The bad news is that the release notes issued with the drivers mention that SLI antialiasing has limited support.
