PS Vita firmware update released, unreleased after it breaks everything

The latest PS Vita firmware update 1.65 was out for only an hour or two before it started breaking things, forcing Sony to yank it from their servers. Somebody over at Sony HQ is probably getting yelled at, big time.

According to Destructoid, the update killed the PSV’s ad hoc connectivity features, leaving users stranded in a terrifying simulation of a post-apocalyptic world where there’s no ad hoc connectivity between devices.

“The lobbies were just… empty, so empty,” said one user I just made up. “It’s how I always imagined the zombie holocaust would be. I was so scared. Hold me.”

“PS Vita system software update 1.65 has been taken down temporarily due to a technical fault,” said Sony. “For any customers who may have already downloaded the firmware, they can continue as normal. We will notify you once the latest system software update is available to download again.”

The update adds “minor enhancements”, including the ability to toggle notifications on and off, and a CAPS LOCK KEY ON THE ON-SCREEN KEYBOARD SO YOU CAN TYPE LIKE THIS.
