iPad 3 available in South Africa in April

16 April 2012

Apple announced today (16 April 2012) that the new iPad (aka iPad 3) will launch in South Africa on 27 April. Local pricing has not yet been announced.

The new iPad features a retina display, Apple’s new A5X chip with quad-core graphics and a 5 megapixel iSight camera which supports 1080p HD video.

Many local retailers are already offering the iPad 3 through direct imports at prices ranging between R6,000 and R11,000 per device.

Apple’s new iPad was launched in many international countries on 16 March 2012 with crowds gathering to get their hands on Apple’s latest gadget.

The launch of the iPad 3 was accompanied by iPad 2 price cuts, and although South Africans have to wait until late April 2012 to get their hands on an iPad 3 the iPad 2 price cuts also applied locally.
