Halo 4 will be exclusively hitting Xbox 360’s around the world on 6 November 2012.
Original series protagonist Master Chief is back in action with his AI sidekick Cortana; the game is set four years after the events of Halo 3 with left a few things up in the air for series fans. The press blurb proclaims that “Master Chief will confront his destiny and face an ancient evil that threatens the fate of the entire universe.”
With original Halo developer Bungie having moved on to other things, the game is being developed by 343 Industries, a studio that had a particularly strong showing with Halo: Reach (91% Metacritic), as well as the revamped Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary edition.
Bungie also thinks that 343 Industries has it covered, with sudio boss Alex Seropian previously saying “I would be pretty surprised if they wiffed it.”
“We are beginning a new saga with Halo 4 and embarking on a journey that will encompass the next decade of Halo games and experiences,” said Phil Spencer, corporate vice president of Microsoft Studios. “Millions of fans worldwide have been eagerly awaiting the opportunity to step back into the boots of Master Chief, and, with Halo 4 leading the charge, we’re confident 2012 will be the most successful year in Xbox history.”
