Unreal Engine 4 shows what next-gen may look like

18 May 2012

Epic’s Unreal Engine has been passed around like a pack of chewing-gum in a school-yard.

Just about every game developer has used Epic’s tech to build their projects, and now the innovators themselves are showing off their next update of their 3D graphics engine.

The Unreal Engine 4 is shown off in a number of screenshots (although we would’ve preferred a video, but we’ll take what we can get), and its looking pretty impressive to say the least.

The demo shown was built in less than 3 months by 14 engineers, and is said to be revealed publicly in June – probably at E3.

The engine will undoubtedly find its way into games within the near future, but with the Unreal Engine 3 still looking gorgeous in games like Gears of War 3, Mortal Kombat and the upcoming Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, the new iteration of Epic’s engine may find itself at home with some of the PS4 and Xbox 720 launch titles.
