Apple “not interested” in the console business

30 May 2012

And in this week’s episode of Will They, Won’t They – The Game Show about the Game Business, Apple’s latest statement on the matter is a big “naaaaah”.

“Gaming has kind of evolved a bit”, Apple boss Tim Cook said at the recent D10 conference talk. “More people play on portable devices. Where we might go in the future, we’ll see. Customers love games. I’m not interested in being in the console business in what is thought of as traditional gaming. But Apple is a big player today and things in the future will only make that bigger.”

Last month, rumours on the internet had Apple working on a “Kinect-like” game console, scheduled to launch before the end of the year, as well as Tim Cook visiting Valve HQ. But rumours on the internet are just rumours on the internet, and you should never believe rumours on the internet except when they’re true.
