Unsurprisingly, AMD recently confirmed to Fudzilla that it will be releasing an X2 variant of its DirectX11 graphics family scheduled for release in September.
Last week we reported that AMD is planning on introducing its 40nm DX11 graphics card line up later this year. The new range will be based on the RV870 GPU.
The dual GPU graphics card based on the RV870 is currently being called the R800.
It is highly likely that Nvidia will also release a new DX11 GPU at around the same time, although there has been no word from Nvidia on the matter. As things stand, AMD is planning to be the first to market with a DX11 GPU.
The X2 version of the upcoming GPU will continue AMD and Nvidia’s tradition of using two GPU’s on their most high-end solutions, such as the HD 4870 and GTX 295.
