Molyneux: The Wii U can be “confusing”

9 June 2012

The Wii U’s launch is just around the corner, and Nintendo needs it to be a big one after a hard financial year.

However, Lionhead Studios founder Peter Molyneux has had some hands-on time with the next-gen console and is a little unsure about it.

“I am not really decided about Wii U,” he said. “I watch people playing and they sometimes seem to be confused about which screen they should look at when they play with the tablet.

“I also feel that monitoring both screens turns out to be a bit demanding, as some games make it necessary to change your view from time to time between both screens.”

These doubts were shared by Microsoft marketing executive Yusuf Mehdi, who said, “One of the things that’s interesting is, when you’re playing a quick, realtime, twitch game, how much can you look up and down between the screens? That’s an interesting question.”

Do you think Nintendo have overextended themselves?
