ADSL capped data prices on downward slide

14 June 2012

Openweb has launched two new capped, unshaped data packages with pricing of well below R10 per GB.

This announcement by Openweb follows numerous ADSL data price cuts from Internet Service Providers (ISPs) after Telkom reduced their ADSL wholesale rates by 30% in April 2012.

Openweb’s newly launched special packages are:

  • 30GB Capped Unshaped for R199 (R6.63 per GB)
  • 50GB Capped Unshaped for R300 (R6 per GB)

Openweb founder Keoma Wright highlighted that the accounts allow 4 concurrent connections, but warned that existing clients cannot downgrade or cancel their current account to sign up for this new offer.

This pricing from Openweb compares well with other service providers. Afrihost is currently selling 15GB of data at R190 and 50GB of data for R399. Telkom’s 20GB data package is priced at R239 and the company’s 40GB data bundle costs R630.
