Michael Fassbender to star in Assassin’s Creed movie

9 July 2012

A lot of game studios and production companies team up to produce films adapted from video games, although many of them never gain momentum, although it seems as if Ubisoft are taking their Assassin’s Creed movie project seriously.

Variety magazine has reported that X-Men: First Class and Prometheus star Michael Fassbender will lead and produce the Assassin’s Creed live-action film.

“Michael Fassbender was our first choice. Michael [Fassbender] is an extremely smart, talented, versatile and committed actor,” said Ubisoft Motion Pictures CEO Jean-Julien Baronnet.

Ubisoft will also save on production costs by using some of the in-house game studios to handle visual effects for the movies.

Most video game movies (barring two or three) haven’t turned out so well, but with the perennial Fassbender on-board, things are looking incredibly optimistic for the AC movie at this point in time.

What do you think of Fassbender bringing the Assassin’s Creed series to the big-screen?
