With Darksiders II prepped and ready for launch next month, Vigil Games is hiring up for its next big thing and going on the job ad, it’s an FPS. An FPS? An FPS.
According to the ad, Vigil is looking for a senior gameplay programmer with a “deep knowledge (professionally or as a gamer) of FPS mechanics and gameplay, and the candidate should also be “an avid FPS gamer with strong interest in pushing the genre forward creatively”.
Obviously, this would be the studio’s first FPS, with the only two games currently on the company’s catalogue being Darksiders and its sequel. Both games were built on an engine developed in-house at Vigil, which studio boss Jay Fitzloff previously suggested may be used in other games.
“We had a strong tech demo and it looked really good, plus we had an engine,” he told MCV back in March. “We created that engine, so I’m sure that if Darksiders had failed, there’d still be that engine there that’s worth pursuing.”
