While many might think that the realms of video games and professional athletics are worlds apart, a Konami employee has won at a gold medal at the Olympics.
Okay, so the employee is not necessarily involved with the video game division, and instead works in Konami’s Sport and Fitness department, which is still pretty impressive.
Kohei Uchimura represented Japan in the gymnastics team, and made his way to first place on the podium after an impressive performance.
Kohei was one of four Konami employees who competed in the Olympics, as he was joined by Koji Yamamuro, and Yusuke Tanaka in gymnastics, and Takuro Fujii in swimming.
“Konami Sports & Life Co., Ltd. would like to congratulate Uchimura on this great accomplishment, and extend appreciation to his many supporters and fans,” a blog post on the official website reads. “Konami will continue to aid in the further development and popularization of sports.”
Konami acquired People Co. in 2001, which then became Konami Sports & Life Co. and acted as a subsidiary of the video game company.

Congrats Kohei, now tell your colleagues to go make MGS5!
