Since the announcement that Intel was expanding on its premier Core i7 range of processors with the entry level i3 and mid ranged i5 families in June this year PC fans have been left in the dark as to at which pricing point each will retail.
Hexus recently revealed that it has secured the pricing grid for each processor in the i3, i5 and i7 families.
If the grid is to be believed then the i3 530 and the i3 540 will run at a standard frequency of 2.83GHz and 3.06GHz respectively. The 530 will retail at $119 (R952) and the 540 at $139 (R1112).
The i5 family reportedly includes four options, namely the 660, 661, 670 and 750. Each will run at a standard frequency of between 2.66GHz and 3.46GHz and will range in price between $172 (R1376) and $275 (R2200).
Notably the Core i5- 670, which is pinned to run at 3.46GHz will retail at $275 (R2200). In comparison AMDs recently launched Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition, which runs at a standard frequency of 3.4GHz is set to retail at $245 (R1960), making it $30 (R240) cheaper than its i5 counterpart.
No official announcement regarding release dates has yet been made although the i5 is scheduled to ship in next month and rumours have been circulating that the i3 family will be released within 2009.
