Nvidia looking to confirm 28nm process

18 August 2009

In a recent interview with Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, Fudzilla discovered that the company will soon be choosing a new foundry for its 28nm GPUs which are set to ship in two years.

Huang commented that Globalfoundries may be Nvidia’s first choice although nothing can be confirmed as yet. In addition the CEO hinted that there may be a 32nm process that will appear between the 40nm process and the incoming 28nm.

Currently it can be argued that Nvidia is on the backfoot in comparison to its competitor AMD. The company’s decision to push forward heavily with its integrated graphics processors has left some critics in the dark.

Meanwhile AMD has been championing a number of new chipsets and DX11 ready GPUs which are set to launch over the next few months.
