Claims from Anonymous that the hacktivist collective had (once again) breached the PlayStation Network have been officially denied by Sony.
Last night, the Anonymous Twitter stream linked to a list of email addresses and encrypted passwords, alleged to be part of a 50 GB database of 10 million compromised PSN user accounts. But the list appears to be a copy-paste of a previous and unrelated list of email addresses and passwords dating back to March this year.
Sony later responded: “We’ve confirmed that the recent claim that PlayStation Network was illegally hacked and that customer passwords and email addresses were accessed is completely false.”
Meanwhile, over on N4G, the person claiming to be behind the claimed hack is claiming that, “I am a man with no name, I’m the man behind Anonymous, hence ‘master & card visa takedown in 2010’ FBI, will you seize the innocent doors, or a devil behind that door whos staring right at’cha? I got no twitter, facebook, neither I go in IRC… if someone takes credit for this pwnage, he’s a f*****. What’s the target?… It’s SONY, MOTHERF*****.”
