Nvidia predicts 570x GPU performance increase over 6 years

27 August 2009

According to TG Daily, Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang has predicted that GPU computing performance will increase by a factor of 570 over the next 6 years.

This effectively means that graphics cards will be 570 times more powerful in 2015 than they are now if Huang is correct.

Huang elaborated, explaining that such power would allow developers to make proper use of “real-world” GPU applications such as ray tracing and CGI simulations.

In contrast, Huang predicts that CPUs will only become 3 times more powerful  than they are now in the same period of time.
