Sony Computer Entertainment CEO Kazuo Hirai recently announced at a Tokyo Game Show press conference that the company has sold one million PS3 Slim units in just three weeks.
The console, which was announced in late August at a Sony Gamescom conference, features an upgradable 120GB hard drive and is around 30% smaller than the standard PS3 model, despite offering the same features.
These figures saw American monthly sales reports jump by 300% year on year after being bolstered by the release of the Slim, which was officially released in the beginning of September.
Additionally, a number of new bundles have been announced for both the Slim and the PS3 standard model – each of which include a 250GB hard drive.
The PS3 Slim currently retails for $300 internationally with prices fluctuating according to currency changes. Locally it is available at BT Games and Look and Listen for roughly R3899, as My Gaming reported earlier this week.
