Halo 4 will be Microsoft’s “most expensive game ever”

27 October 2012

The Halo series is arguably Microsoft’s biggest game franchise, and the upcoming Halo 4 will be the first of the games not to be developed by Bungie.

In order to make sure the game is still a success post-Bungie, Microsoft is throwing money at it. A lot of money. Microsoft Studios boss Phil Spencer said in an interview that Halo 4 is the most expensive game Microsoft has ever made, adding that “nothing’s even close.” Spencer didn’t disclose any actual numbers, but it’s safe to assume it’s a big one.

According to Spencer, Halo is a three billion dollar franchise, and the “most important entertainment product in the company”. It makes sense then that Microsoft would spare no cost, there are a lot of rabid Halo fans counting the days to the November 6th release date – a fanbase Microsoft can’t afford to disappoint.
