X-COM co-creator Julian Gollop has just announced that he’s working on a new game – a sequel to his 1985 ZX Spectrum game Chaos: The Battle of Wizards, a turn-based tactics game which had somewhat of a cult following in its day.
The new came via Twitter, where Gollop revealed the game will be a sequel/remake for iOS, Mac and PC.
The game will be 3D and make use of the Unity engine. As for gameplay, Gollop promises to “keep combat/movement very close to the original, with some tweaks.”
Julian and his brother Nick created X-COM twenty years ago, a game which has very recently spawned an immensely popular remake. Chaos does away with aliens and spaceships in favour of battling wizards in a turn-based strategy environment. It also spawned a less popular sequel in 1990, called Lord of Chaos.
The original is looking a bit long in the tooth at 27 years of age, but here’s a video of someone playing it on the Spectrum.
