Mirror’s Edge 2 is said to be in development at DICE, according to a Swedish game dev.
Ngmoco’s Ben Cousins, who previously worked at Electronic Arts as a general manager of EA Easy, tweeted that a sequel to DICE’s 2008 first-person platformer is in fact already in the works.
“It is general knowledge in the Stockholm dev scene that Mirror’s Edge 2 is in production at DICE,” said Cousins in a tweet.
Cousins was responding to an article from OXM, in which EA Games VP Patrick Soderlund said that DICE doesn’t want to become a “Battlefield factory”.
Rumours of a Mirror’s Edge 2 have been hanging around for a while, with another hint coming from an ex-EA software engineer, who claimed to have worked on “the wandering of crowd system within Unreal3 engine” on Mirror’s Edge 2 in 2009; while another former employee said that he implemented “new gadgets and interactive features”,“leaderboards” and a “mini-game” for the yet-to-be-announced free-running sequel.
