In news that will thrill people who like to pose Team Fortress and Half-Life characters in compromising positions for YouTube videos, Garry’s Mod creator Garry Newman has confirmed that he’s adding Kinect support to the immensely popular (but rather difficult to use) Source sandbox toolset, Garry’s Mod.

Using a Kinect device, GModders will be able to position in-game models using data captured from their very own bodies. Technology!

Newman explained the process of implementing Kinect support in GMod over on his blog, adding that it’s “super, super, super fun. Super fun!”. So apparently it’s super fun.

“You move your arm and the ragdoll moves its arm. You jump – and it jumps. It’s live, your body is directly controlling the ragdoll,” said Newman.

The update is due to drop within the next two weeks, so in the meantime, I’d recommend lots of gentle stretching exercises. Bending over and kissing your own bum is harder than it looks, you know.
