Valve has gone live with the beta of the Steam Community Market.
The public beta of the service allows for the community to buy and sell in-game items for Steam Wallet funds.
The only game which has items tradable is Team Fortress 2, for now. Valve says that more games will be added in 2013.
Buyers will also have to pay a 5% “Steam Transaction Fee” on each item bought, as a way for Valve guard against fraud and cover the cost of the Market’s continuing development.
Valve has also put together a handy FAQ to answer any questions regarding the service.
Steam also recently added Big Picture Mode, which allows Steam and the games on offer to become compatible for larger screens. This means that you can hook up your computer to your TV and enjoy some serious gaming from your couch.
