Steam for Linux beta open to all

20 December 2012

Valve has announced that the Steam for Linux beta client is now available to all Steam users.

“If you’ve been patiently waiting for an invitation to join us, consider yourself officially invited!” the company said in a statement.

Steam now boasts a growing catalog of Linux-supported games, an active Steam for Linux community group, and a new GitHub bug reporting repository.

There are currently 39 games available via Steam for use on Linux.

As is the nature of the community-oriented Linux platform, any feedback users have to share will go a long way to improving the ecosystem for gaming on Linux platforms.
