AMD series 5800 Product Manager Dave Baumann had admitted to The Inquirer that the company is struggling to keep up with stock demand for its new DirectX 11 enabled GPUs.
Despite this Baumann has revealed that the company is doing what it can to remedy the situation, adding that a problem with production at manufacturer TSMC is the reason for the lack of supply.
Despite this production has been ramped up, with AMD expecting “tens of thousands in the next [few] weeks” to be supplied.
The initial problem reportedly occurred at TSMC a number of weeks ago, although a thorough explanation could not be given.
According to Bauman AMD is still on track to release its Redwood and Cedar product lines in early 2010, the company has also recently introduced the dual GPU HD5970 to the market.
