Do Gaming League breaks records

The Do Gaming League (DGL) is prepping for its biggest season ever, as record-breaking numbers of gamers are expected to compete when the league kicks off.

The DGL will be hosting the most games this year as well, with 11 titles on offer, some of which feature variations of games such as Starcraft 2, Quake Live, and FIFA 13.

DotA 2 has also hit a milestone in the DGL, as the game has roped in 65 teams to compete in the season.

League of Legends has also impressed, as 58 teams are registered to duke it out in the MOBA game.

So between DotA 2 and League of Legends, there are over 730 players.


On the virtual football pitch, FIFA 13 has the highest number of FIFA competitors registered for the 2013 season, with 118 players competing on PS3, while 92 are set to battle it out on Xbox 360.

The PC version of FIFA 13 has 64 players ready to face-off.

Gran Turismo 5 has also seen significant growth, as the game has close to 100 entries, while Forza 4 (Xbox 360) has 50 competitors.

Black Ops 2 has 86 teams currently registered, with more expected to be added before the 20 January 2013 closing date.

    Wonder if DotA 2 will have LAN functionality by the time rAge 2013 rocks around? Lag in DotA is a serious game killer.
    Failing this, I wonder how much a DotA server cluster would cost?
