MyGaming has learnt that Xbox South Africa is planning to roll-out “Xbox LIVE pods” at retail stores around South Africa, with BT Games currently pegged as an initial partner. This is an official Microsoft initiative.

The Xbox LIVE pods will be combination of Xbox 360 product display and education centre, and consumer service station manned by fully-trained staff.

With the aide of staff, customers will be able to learn what the LIVE service is all about, and receive help setting up their Xbox LIVE account.

Customers can also update their Xbox 360 software at the pod, whether they purchased it in-store or bring one in. Game patch downloading will also be offered.
