We’ve taken some of the biggest games of 2012, 2011 and 2010, Far Cry 3, Arkham City, and Darksiders respectively, and compared them to see which SA retailer offers the best price.
Look & Listen, BT Games, Makro, AnimeWorx, CNA, Kalahari, Takealot, and Dion Wired were stacked-up against each other.
Far Cry 3
Firstly, Far Cry 3, arguably one of the best games of 2012, was compared from a number of different retailers to see what prices are available.

There are some big discrepancies here, as Far Cry 3 prices range from the lowest R379.95 (Kalahari) up to R600 (Dion Wired).

Far Cry 3
Batman: Arkham City
Batman: Arkham City was also put to the test, as it’s a prominent game of 2011, and well worth picking up. It should be noted that BT Games no longer stocks the standard version of the game but does carry the Game of the Year version.

Kalahari once again comes in with the cheapest offering, but not by much. Large retail outlets such as Look & Listen and Makro prove to be the most expensive option.

Darksiders
The original Darksiders is considered to be one of the stand-out surprises of 2010, and should be on anyone’s radar if they haven’t experienced the action-adventure series.

Conclusion
The findings show that you ideally should be in the mid-R200 amount for a triple-A game from 2011, while just under R200 for a 2010 triple-A title.
Each retailer has its own particular prices, however, in relation to the 2011 and 2010 games, the margin is relatively small. So, convenience will be the decider when picking up a great game from yesteryear.
Pricing on the latest triple-A games from 2012/2013 will likely vary a lot depending where you shop, so it pays to do some research before making a decision, keeping an eye out for promotions and specials.

Zaps are winners in my books cos not only are their prices reasonable but they have a decent trade in/second hand system compared to btgames where you pay R500 today and get around R200 tomorow for the same title.
