It’s a busy weekend on the digital download front, with numerous cracking specials on offer for platforms such as Steam, PSN, GOG.com, Greenman Gaming, and the stalwart, Indie Royale.
Steam Specials
Steam might just be leading the PC gaming digital download deals again this weekend, with the fantastic news – Steam for Linux has been released. Over 50 Linux-ready titles are now 50-75% discounted until Thursday, 21 February, at 10 AM PST.
Among the big hitters available is Team Fortress 2, Serious Sam 3: BFE, Half-Life, Counter-Strike: Source, Trine 2, and Bastion. Valve used Left 4 Dead 2 as a development test-case for Steam for Linux, which may indicate that title will soon be available on the platform.
In the Steam spotlight, the highly-rated Torchlight II is going for US$9.99 (50% off), or US$29.99 for a 4-pack. The hilariously fun 2.5D arcade brawler Castle Crashers is the weekend deal, going for US$7.49, or US$22.18 for a 4-pack.
Ubisoft’s interesting strategy game RUSE is discounted as a daily deal for US$2.50 until 8PM tonight. Serious Sam 3: BFE is also discounted at US$8, but if you are interested in that game, you might as well grab it as part Indie Royale Valentine Bundle 2.0 (discussed below), thereby saving some money and getting a bunch of other cool games as well.
Finally, PC gamers and heavy metal fans were treated to the news that Brutal Legend is launching on Steam next week. The game is on pre-order at 25% discount; US$14.99 for standard, or US$18.74 for the game plus heavy metal soundtrack.
Indie Royale Valentine Bundle 2.0
The latest Indie Royale Bundle is all about love – if you love a variety of action-packed and brain-wracking games that is.
Leading the bundle is Croteam’s Serious Sam 3: BFE, an intense arcade shooter. Also very tempting is the Collector’s Edition of Shad’O from Okugi Studio, a unique tower defense game which includes the OST.
Other games includes are the hardcore, old school platformer with a hand drawn art style, Oozi: Earth Adventure; a travelling adventure puzzle, Doc Clock: The Toasted Sandwich of Time; and the 2-game Lunar Pack from Boss Baddie, covering the alien puzzle platformer Lunnye Devitsy and sinking ship escapade Wake. Both games in the Lunar Pack are new 2013 versions launched in this bundle.
For $8 USD or more (or your currency equivalent) you will get an ambient electronic treat from Tim Wright of CoLD SToRAGE, the recently released ‘SLIPSTREAM [volume 2]’. The album features 64 bit digital re-mix / re-masters of Tim’s tracks from WipEout and WipEout 2097. It also includes some special remixes and exclusive bonus tracks from the same time. This album is available in MP3 and FLAC format.
