Deep Silver has confirmed that the over-the-top third person open-world action series, Saints Row, will be getting its fourth instalment, scheduled for an August 2013 release.

Series developer Volition is once again behind the development of the game, and will continue from where Saints Row III left off.

The fourth entry sees the head of the notorious Saints gang be elected as president of the United States, but things get a little complicated when Steelport is attacked by an alien race.

Saints Row 4 will allow players to wield an arsenal of alien weaponry and technology, along with enhanced customisation and superpowers that allow you to leap over buildings, outrun sports cars and play around with some telekinesis.

Saints Row 4 will release on “current-gen consoles” (so, presumably Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii U) and PC on 23 August 2013.

Awesome can’t wait. SR 3 was an awesome game and it had local COOP, I really hope they keep the local COOP.
