Kicking off over the weekend was the SA qualifier rounds for the Call of Duty Championship, which will see a team of South African players heading to Hollywood to compete for a slice of the $1 million prize pot.

The qualifiers saw local teams XtaZ, IoN Gaming ZA, RSA Ambassadors, Hi5 Adios, Omega Assault Plan, F34R, Hi5 Visceral, 13L, Corrupt Disciples, eVoLVe eSports, SYFG The Stand, and Sector 17 Legion battle it out for the top spot.

F34R and XtaZ made it through their initial round of 16, quarter- and semi-finals to meet one another in the final, in which XtaZ emerged victorious.

XtaZ will now essentially represent South Africa in the Call of Duty Championship, setting their sights on that cool cash prize of $400,000.

MyGaming would like to congratulate the XtaZ team and wish them the best of luck heading forward.

The prize structure for the tournament is as follows:

  • Champion 1st Place Team $400,000
  • Runner Up 2nd Place Team $200,000
  • 3rd Place Team $120,000

  • 5th Place Team $70,000
