Playstation 4 considered the “perfect gaming PC”

PlayStation 4 PS4 news

The Playstation 4 specs make Sony’s upcoming console similar to those of a PC, and Epic Games’ VP Mark Rein believes it’s the ideal PC equivalent.

“I think it’s a very smart move on Sony’s behalf to build this sort of enhanced PC architecture and then put so much in it,” said Rein. “The kind of stuff that they announced that they’re doing, the level of convenience and things like that… they’re making a really perfect gaming PC.”

Rein praised the upcoming console’s capabilities specifically, saying that the 8 GB of GDDR5 memory will be a great platform for developers.

“Let’s not forget it has 16 times the memory we had in PlayStation 3 – that’s not insignificant. Knowing that every machine has that we can do crazy, ridiculous stuff,” Rein explained.

“The other exciting thing is that Windows for most people is tied to about 2GB of addressable memory space. This really opens up beyond what most PCs can do, because most PCs are running a 32-bit version of Windows.”

Rein also explained that it’s not always about graphic prowess, and rather the accessibility of a game is what makes it appealing.

“I’ve always said that the things in the next-generation that aren’t just brute force hardware are all about the service and simplicity of the experience – the things that make it as fun and easy to get a PS4 game as it is to get a game on your iPad.”

i am a Playstation Gamer and i believe that the Article is BS with regards that it is a ” Perfect Gaming PC”. The unit scrapes the barrel in my definition of a gaming. yes i also have a higher than average spec gaming PC although i mostly choose to game on my playstation because of the ease of use when it comes to multiplayer since i can take any of my games which have multiplayer and play. I am rather depressed that Sony didnt want to fork out the extra cash for an nVidia system and rather went with ATI.
