There has been some confusion among MyGaming readers since the revelation that South Africa was going to get its own Comic Con; and after contacting the organisers and affiliates, the final details of the event have been released.

Comic Con SA will take place in Cape Town on the 26 – 28 of April at “It’s a house” design space, 20 Jarvis Street, De Waterkant, Green Point, Cape Town, Western Cape.

The event will begin at 9am and continue “till late”.

There will be promotions for Marvel Superheroes Magazine from an “undisclosed party”.

South African comic book retailer Outer Limits will be present at the event and have an on-site store.

Other participants of the event include:

  • Outer limits comic book stores (comics);
  • ZombieGamer (video games);
  • Vinyl junkie (comic book related paraphernalia, figurines);
  • Rebirth graphic novel (South African author);
  • The Lil’ Five (South African comic book);
  • Part of the Pokémon league (Cape Town edition);
  • Zabalazaa (local artists, sketching competition).

Comic Con SA did say that they did “not expect so much feedback and we expect a lot more participants before we get started.”

Card games, anime and video games will be played and food will be served from 9h00 to 17h30. All ages are welcome.

An official Comic Con SA cosplay winner will be declared on Day 2.

Official Comic Con gamer winners declared on day 2 and 3 (various titles), with card game winners also being declared over the second and third days of the event.

A Day 1 entrance ticket will cost R50, while Day 2 tickets will cost R200 (unless you’re wearing cosplay, then it’s R150). Female cosplayers will get free entrance for the whole event.

Day 3 entrance tickets cost R30.
