While there have been more than enough tragic examples of people playing games for too long in one sitting, one woman has still tried to test her body, and almost died following a 40-hour gaming session.

The 20-year-old Chinese female was admitted to a Fujian hospital after she began feeling intense leg pains. She was playing an online game and hadn’t taken a lengthy break for over 40 hours. Once the doctors had checked her out, it became evident that she had developed deep-vein thrombosis and required surgery and medication immediately.

Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) is caused by blood vessels that become vulnerable to the formation of clots, which can hamper blood flow going back to the heart.

The surgery was successful and the woman is now in a healthy state.

Some advice to avoid such situations was also given, such as taking breaks, getting regular exercise, and drinking lots of water.

What’s the longest gaming session you’ve ever endured? Have you ever had any health issues while playing games for a long period of time?
