With EA getting the nod to use the Star Wars rights to create future games for the franchise, a lot of gamers have become wary at what will happen with their beloved franchise. We have a new hope that the empire will strike back and return the jedi back to its glory. Let’s put some faith into EA – here are 5 Star Wars games we hope get made.
Darth Maul’s Inferno (Visceral Games)
Darth Maul was one of the coolest baddies from the Star Wars universe, and seeing him revived in a prequel game would be awesome.
If EA could use Visceral (Dead Space, Dante’s Inferno) to create a hack-‘n-slash adventure game using the Star Wars licence, it would be a match made in heaven.
Visceral’s dark and gritty visual design skills would be great for a walk on the Sith side, and the tight mechanics used in Dante’s Inferno could be great for controlling a light-sabre.

A game like the cartoonish Clone Wars: Republic Heroes, but darker and more violent would be awesome.
New Star Wars action RPG / Knights of the Old Republic 3 (BioWare)
EA need to harness BioWare to create a genuine RPG experience, and not an MMO like The Old Republic – a Mass Effect-esque take on the Star Wars universe.
BioWare previously handled the Knights of the Old Republic games and did wonders with them, but given the new technologies and changes in game development, a new iteration is in desperate need.

We need more of this.
Pod Racer: Most Wanted (Criterion)
EA should capitalise on Criterion’s racing prowess in order to make (or rather re-make) one of the most underrated Star Wars games, Episode 1: Pod Racer.
A new Pod Racing action game could be exactly what the non-existent sci-fi pod-racing genre needs, and if pod-racing makes another appearance in one of the new films (and we hope it does), it could end up being a perfect tie-in.

There’s a serious lack of good Star Wars Pod Racing games. It’s a shame.
New Star Wars FPS (DICE)
Maybe EA could rope in the DICE team to put down their Battlefield dev rigs and build a fully-fledged Frostbite 3-powered Star Wars FPS.
The shooter could put players back in the role of a bounty hunter or Republic Commando again, who while both had their own game, 2002’s Star Wars Bounty Hunter and 2005’s Republic commando respectively, it would be great to see a new first-person take in the rich and wide universe.

Imagine this, with more lens-flare and bloom lighting.
Star War: Galactic Battlegrounds 2 (EA Victory Games)
EA launched its Victory Games studio to focus on strategy development (with Command & Conquer in the works), so it may as well be put to further use.
A new Star Wars RTS would be great – with everything from AT-AT units, X-wing squadrons, and even Ewok death squads at your beck and call, as you go up against your friends, the AI, and anyone who challenges your army.

Another Galactic Battlegrounds is long overdue.
With EA now in charge of the Star Wars franchise, what kind of games would you like to see? Let us know in the comments below and on the MyGaming forum.
Agreed, Battlefront 3 or we riot !
